Bangor is deploying small robots from Daxbot to assess its sidewalks for ADA compliance, aiming to cut costs and time.

The City of Bangor is using the robots to help improve sidewalk accessibility and support its capital improvement plan.

A city official estimated it would cost at least double that to have humans collect the measurements, which will help the city made sidewalks more accessible.

The robots will assess the city’s sidewalks, curbs and crosswalks for accessibility and planning, the city announced Thursday.
