The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for parts of northeast Georgia, with dangerous winter weather expected to develop Saturday afternoon and last through Monday morning.

A severe winter storm, nicknamed Fern by The Weather Channel, is wreaking havoc along the Southeast, and Georgia is right in the path of the snow and ice.

The most widespread and potentially destructive ice impacts are expected on the northeast side of the metro area, where conditions will be most favorable for prolonged icing.
